Daisy-May Hudson(Daisy-May Hudson)
Daisy-May Hudson is a BAFTA Breakthrough writer and director. She began her filmmaking career unconventionally after filming her and her family’s experience of homelessness whilst living in a hostel in 2013. Her debut feature documentary HALF WAY was nominated for Best Cinema Documentary at both the British Independent Film Awards and the Grierson Awards. Through this process, she experienced first-hand the transformative power of storytelling to turn pain into power, and has since committed her career to telling stories that are raw, honest and full of heart.
Her work spans fiction, documentary and branded storytelling. Most recently, she wrote and directed her debut fiction feature LOLLIPOP, produced by Parkville Pictures with BBC Film and the BFI, whilst co-directing the feature documentary HOLLOWAY. Together, the films received widespread critical acclaim, won and were nominated for multiple awards including BIFA and BAFTA, screened in Parliament and sparked national conversations around homelessness, women and the criminal justice system. All three of Daisy-May's feature films have played in Parliament as part of their social impact campaign.
Alongside her feature work, Daisy-May has written and directed award-winning campaigns including Unseen Kingdoms for The Body Shop, Channel 4 and Youth Homelessness, which won Campaign of the Year at The Drum Awards, and The Railway Children Christmas campaign for Avanti West Coast.
Across everything she creates, Daisy-May is interested in stories that create genuine connection. Her work never shies away from truth, but is always searching for the joy, comedy and triumph that exist alongside it. Whether working with actors, real people or brands, she creates films that leave audiences feeling deeply seen, connected to one another and part of something bigger than themselves.
Passionate about creating stories with people, not about them, Daisy-May has developed a lived experience-led, co-creative and trauma-informed filmmaking practice that places dignity, collaboration and human connection at the heart of every project. She believes the process is just as important as the story itself and that when stories are made with integrity, audiences don't just watch them, they feel them.
Alongside her directing work, Daisy-May also works as a lived experience-led storytelling consultant, supporting brands, agencies and production companies developing campaigns rooted in real people and real stories. Through embedded consultancy, creative advisory and workshops, she helps teams navigate the opportunities and responsibilities of working with lived experience—developing co-creative, trauma-informed approaches that mitigate risk, build trust and ultimately create stronger, more authentic and more emotionally resonant storytelling.
